Rainbow Snippets is a group for LGBTQ+ authors, bloggers, and readers to gather once a week and share six sentences from a work of fiction–a WIP or a finished work or even a 6-sentence book recommendation (no spoilers please!). Skipping ahead some from last week. Taliya and her mother have had words and Taliya has walked out of her home, with no plans other than to find Luzita, her lover who her mother sold into slavery. She’s also made plans to have her mother’s household staff hired out from under her, courtesy of a friend who owns the best placement agency on the planet. She has just finished telling him what happened.
“What are you going to do now?” Belyn asked, worry in his brown eyes.
“I don’t know yet, Bel, I just left the house.”
“Well the first thing you’re doing is meeting me at Curtey’s. You need a drink and food, and probably more drink than food.”
Taliya laughed in spite of everything; Belyn was hard to say no to and Curtey’s was one of her favorite restaurants, which he well knew.
“All right,” she agreed. “I’ll meet you for dinner. But no alcohol. I need to stay in control.”
“Honey, what you need right now is to let go of that control and just… let go.”
Nice to see Taliya again! Sweet scene!
