2022, Here I Come!

Well, well, well, look who’s back. I’m going to try to get back to my regular posting schedule this year. I’ve managed to keep with Wednesday Words, but both snippet days have fallen by the wayside, mostly, I think, because I haven’t been doing much writing.

That’s going to change too. My goal is to write 100 words on something every day this year. It might not always be the same thing two days in a row, but I have more than enough WIPs and plot bunnies to get me through the year. Or decade.

How to decide what to work on? I guess it’s going to depend on what calls to me on any given day. Or else I’ll write titles on pieces of paper and draw one out of a jar.

And to keep myself accountable, those 100 words are going to get posted somewhere every day. Either here, or in the 100 words FB group, or on my FB page, or on my personal wall. Somewhere. Anywhere. Since I’m lacking an accountability partner that seems to be the best alternative.

I’m still working on figuring out how to be accountable on editing/revising, and other behind the scenes stuff. I know that I want to get Onyx Sun released this year, as soon as I figure out how to get myself out of the plot hole I’ve revised myself into.

The Academy of the Accord is still my heart project but there is still so much to be done on it that it’s starting to feel like a “never never” project, as in “I’m never never going to get this done.” (The expression came from a college roommate who was tatting a bedspread – or tablecloth, I don’t remember which now.) I am working on its concordance, though, and the plan is to go through one book a month to add to it. (At least the first four or five books – after that things get somewhat iffy and confusing and are in various states of done-ness.)

Kind of like me.

Wednesday Words #366 (12/29/2021)

Welcome to Wednesday Words!  Every Wednesday I will post some sort of prompt for a flash fiction piece.  The prompt will go live just after midnight Eastern time.

The prompt might be a picture, or it might be a list of things to include in a story, or maybe a phrase or a question or something from a “news of the weird” type thing, or a… who knows?

After that, it’s up to you.  But if you do use the prompt to write a bit of flash fiction (say, 500 words or so) I’d love to see what you came up with, so comment below with a link to where it is on your blog (or on WattPad or wherever).

(And a pingback to the post here where you found the prompt would be appreciated but isn’t necessary.)

Oh, and this isn’t a contest or anything.  It’s just a (hopefully) fun thing for all concerned.

And, hey, if it inspires more than 500 or so words, run with it!

This week’s prompt:

POV: clerk at return counter in a department store

And, as always, I’d love to see what you come up with!
