Who Is PT Wyant?

P.T. Wyant is a writer of fantasy and bad poetry, at least during April.  She is also a nurse, a rat mom, and an expert avoider of housework.

And she hates writing about her self in third person, so…

Hi, there!

I read once that “A writer never takes a vacation.  A writer is always either writing or thinking about writing.”   That’s me in a nutshell.  (Some people would say I belong in a nutshell, but we won’t go there…)

Writing is my passion, but I do have other hobbies. Counted cross stitch is one.  (The amount of stash and number of works in progress are not up for discussion.)

I’m also remodeling a doll house.   Slowly.  I need to clear more space to work on it.  (Difficult for a pack rat.)

Scrapbooking is another hobby, although I’m better at acquiring stuff to scrapbook with than I am at actually making pages.  Another “not enough room” issue.  (I think I need a second house just for hobbies.)

I couldn’t get into World of Warcraft, but I am a Materia Magic addict.  (In fact, it was alts created for Materia Magica who became the main characters in Song and Sword.)  The difference between the two?  Well, for me, it’s kind of like watching  a movie (WoW) vs reading a book (MM) — I like to visualize the places myself.

I’m also starting to get back into snail mail pen palling.  It’s fun to get something in the mail that isn’t a bill or an ad.

Someday I’ll find the perfect organizational system.  Until then I should be banned from office supply stores and any place that sells tote bags or other “things to put things in.”

Mundanely, I’m an only child with three brothers.  I live in a small town and share an apartment with Sue, who has been my best friend since college.  (My mother says she has two daughters: one genetic and one generic.)

I also share it with (currently) 6 rats and 2 Boxers.

I’m also Pagan.  I debated whether or not I should put that in here, but it is a major part of who I am  (after roughly a quarter of a century on this path I should certainly hope that it would be!)  — so here it is.  It really doesn’t influence my writing much.   It does in The Other Mages trilogy (which is a long way from being ready for public consumption) but there’s been no mention of religion at all in The Academy of the Accord series, or, if there is, it’s in a minor “thank the powers” sort of way.

And that is pretty much me in a bigger nutshell.  I like the bigger nutshell — there’s room to decorate.
