NaNo Prep

Yes, it’s that time of year again. NaNoWriMo is coming. And I’m… ready? Sort of?

Okay, not so much.

I’ve finally decided on a story but…

The main human character has no name. And is now female instead of the male that I had planned on.

And the dragon? Well… He had a name but now the dragon is also female and has no name.

So, aside from names and not knowing if my main characters are male or female and only having half a plot and a tenth of an outline, I think I’m good to go.

(I still have two days to beat an outline into shape. And find names. And a plot.)

In more promising news, I have scheduled Wednesday Words posts for the month and the 1st of December, so that much is taken care of.

And since I’ve fallen in love with Walmart’s grocery delivery, that’ll save me a lot of shopping time.

Now if my job just cooperates…

And if I can shake this respiratory bug. (It’s not Covid. I’m vaccinated and I just had a test that came back negative, so it’s just good old-fashioned bronchitis.)

I should probably try to get my work space a bit more organized, too.

So much to do and so little time.

Wednesday Words #357 (10/27/2021)

Welcome to Wednesday Words!  Every Wednesday I will post some sort of prompt for a flash fiction piece.  The prompt will go live just after midnight Eastern time.

The prompt might be a picture, or it might be a list of things to include in a story, or maybe a phrase or a question or something from a “news of the weird” type thing, or a… who knows?

After that, it’s up to you.  But if you do use the prompt to write a bit of flash fiction (say, 500 words or so) I’d love to see what you came up with, so comment below with a link to where it is on your blog (or on WattPad or wherever).

(And a pingback to the post here where you found the prompt would be appreciated but isn’t necessary.)

Oh, and this isn’t a contest or anything.  It’s just a (hopefully) fun thing for all concerned.

And, hey, if it inspires more than 500 or so words, run with it!

This week’s prompt:

a flickering light
a dream
dried herbs

And, as always, I’d love to see what you come up with!
