Sunday Excerpt — April 6, 2014

More from Sanguine, a science fiction novel (still in progress) with elements of semi-paranormal M/M romance.

(I am done with beta readers, and Sanguine is in next-to-final-edit stage, so this is still a work in progress and the following lines may or may not have been hacked and recombined and creatively punctuated to fit into 10 sentences.)

Picking up from last week’s snippet:

Kaen shook his head sharply as he returned to himself, still in the grip of memories that he could not quite recall.   “Gregor?  What…?”  The memory of what had just happened faded into unreality, but Gregor was there, Gregor was real.

Gregor smiled and ran his fingers through Kaen’s hair again.  “It’s all right, Master, I understand and you will too – soon.”  He sighed and reluctantly pulled away.  “We had better get dressed  – it will not do for the decorators to find the ship’s captain strutting around naked.”

Kaen laughed and kissed him lightly.

“By the way,” Gregor asked as he pulled his shirt – a dark red turtleneck – on over his head, “how old are you, Master?”

“I don’t know.”  For a moment Kaen’s eyes were troubled. “I lost some memories as the result of a duel with another vampire.   I lost.  I lived, but I lost… everything…”
