Camp Ramblings 4-4-14

For the first time ever I am behind on the word count for NaNoWriMo.  As in, at the time of this writing, I am at less than half of the minimum words per day to hit goal.

It sucks.

I keep telling myself that I can get caught up.  After all, I know what it takes and I know that I can do 5000 words on a day off.

So why, with having just had three days off, is my word count below 3000 words?

I’ve just not been feeling it.

So I’ve been procrastinating.

I haven’t gotten quite so desperate as to do housework to avoid writing (I use that to get over writer’s block and I haven’t really felt blocked, just… uninspired) but I have let myself be distracted by anything and everything that catches my attention.   I even went shopping!  (And I hate to shop.)

But I’m still plugging away, thanks to 750words.com.  I lost my huge 1000+ day streak on it due to some weird scheduling at work that left me too brain-fogged to even think about it and I’ve been just sort of using it randomly since then.  But now I’m determined to get back into the habit of writing every day, using Camp NaNoWriMo as the impetus.

So I’ve forced myself to write.

Even though I felt like I was just going through the motions, just rambling and not really going anywhere with the story, I forced myself to write.

And you know what?  Even though it’s only been a few days, I am starting to feel it again.

But it’s there: the urge to write, to put words on paper – even on the fake paper of a Word doc.

I’ve missed it, and I’m glad it’s back.
