Rainbow Snippets is a group for LGBTQ+ authors, bloggers, and readers to gather once a week and share six sentences from a work of fiction–a WIP or a finished work or even a 6-sentence book recommendation (no spoilers please!).   Check out all the other awesome snippets by clicking on the picture above.

Picking up from last week.

She nodded and rose.”I have something that will help until we can get you to a doctor. Meanwhile, eat. There’s lots more where that came from.” She frowned slightly.”When is the last time you two had a good meal?”

“Before we were kicked out,” Alex replied. “We didn’t have time to grab much, not that we had much anyhow.”

Kamrin nodded. “You two can stay here as long as you need to. Or want to,” she added.

Alex swallowed hard and looked at Tommy who had turned to look at him. He was sure that the tears in Tommy’s eyes were mirrored in his own.

“Thank you,” Alex said, and Tommy turned to look at her.

“Yes, thank you,” he said, his voice hoarse. “For taking us in and… and for everything.”

“You’re more than welcome,” she said. She touched his shoulder gently. “Let me get something to help you with your breathing.”

She had just handed him a cup when the doorbell sounded. “Breathe the steam and drink the tea. I’ll be right back.” She paused in the doorway and smiled. “You’re safe, so don’t be afraid. It’s a friend.”

  1. Love that last line (heart)

  2. What story is this too? I don’t recognize the characters.

  3. Aww, I’m tearing up right along with the boys. But I wonder if that last line reflects reality or if it’s ominous? ❤️

  4. I’m hoping that last line is the truth!

  5. Here’s hoping they’re safe.
