Rainbow Snippets is a group for LGBTQ+ authors, bloggers, and readers to gather once a week and share six sentences from a work of fiction–a WIP or a finished work or even a 6-sentence book recommendation (no spoilers please!). Check out all the other awesome snippets by clicking on the picture above.
This snippet picks up from last week’s, from my still unnamed FF vampire novel. It’s also extremely raw (as in I’m pretty much writing this for Rainbow Snippet posts until I get the first draft of a different novel finished) so never mind any head-hopping you’ll see in any snippets.
It felt like an eternity, but the task was over all too soon, and she gathered up her tools and put the flat tire in the open trunk.
“That should do it,” she said. She turned to see Olivia pulling something from her purse. “Thank you, but we’re not allowed to accept gratuities.”
“It’s not a gratuity.” Olivia seemed amused. “It’s an invitation.”
Curious, Sam took the proffered business card. “Club Evernight?” She’s heard about the club, of course; everyone in the city had heard about it. Despite – or possibly because of – some whispered rumors, it was the hottest – and hardest to get into – nightclub in the city. And like the woman who had handed her the card, it was way out of her league. “Thank you, but I don’t think…”
“Show that card to the doorman. You’ll be admitted.”
