Rainbow Snippet for 3-24-2018

Rainbow Snippets is a group for LGBTQ+ authors, bloggers, and readers to gather once a week and share six sentences from a work of fiction–a WIP or a finished work or even a 6-sentence book recommendation (no spoilers please!).   Check out all the other awesome snippets by clicking on the picture above.

I’m posting excerpts from Doll, a little F/f BDSM story that I started back in January of 2014. It’s kind of a UFO (UnFinished Object) that is sort of turning back into a WiP. We’ll see.

Victor and I both watched as Ike greeted Miss M and the two of them disappeared into Ike’s office.

“I wonder what that’s all about?” Victor murmured.

“Maybe someone needs some additional training,” I retorted, but he shook his head.

“If he was going to send me to her for training he would have just done it.”

I raised my eyebrows and he shrugged. “He’s sent me to her before.”

My eyebrows went higher and he laughed. “Nothing bad. He just wanted me to learn some skills he wasn’t capable of teaching me.’

“Oh?”

“Yeah. Have you ever seen the way that man cleans? He has a lot of skills, but housework isn’t one of them.”

“He sent you to a Pro Domme to learn to clean house?”

Victor shrugged. “And to… develop a proper attitude toward it.”

“Trying to get what you want – it’s only going to get you hurt and disappointed.”

I frowned, but before Victor could say anything we were interrupted by the arrival of Ike, the club’s – and Victor’s – owner.

“What are you doing to Barbie?” Ike asked, giving Victor a quick kiss.

“Just trying to save her from herself.” Victor nodded toward Miss M.

“Ah, good, she’s here.”

“You were expecting her?”

“I invited her.” More or less hidden by the bar, Ike gave Victor’s ass a squeeze. “We’ll be in my office. Do not disturb unless it’s an emergency.”

Victor and I both watched as Ike greeted Miss M and the two of them disappeared into Ike’s office.

“…She doesn’t have a select clientele of men who come to be tied up or whatever. She’s a trainer.”

“A trainer?”

He nodded. “She trains submissives. Either ones that are hoping to find a permanent Dom or ones whose Doms want them to have additional training.”

“So she already has someone in her collar.”

“No,” he replied and my hopes rose again. “She doesn’t have anyone in her collar, nor does she ever plan to.”

“What do you mean?”

He shrugged. “She doesn’t want that kind of commitment. Trying to get what you want – it’s only going to get you hurt and disappointed.”

“What is so bad about her that you don’t want tell me about her?”

“She’s a Pro Domme.”

I shrugged. “That doesn’t make her a bad person. It just makes her a person who makes a lot of money doing something she enjoys.”

Victor laughed in spite of himself. “Not that kind of pro, though. She doesn’t have a select clientele of men who come to be tied up or whatever. She’s a trainer.”

Picking up from last week, and Doll’s memory/flashback to her meeting with the woman with the boots and bullwhip.

“She has that effect on every single submissive that meets her.  Hell, there are even a few Doms that wouldn’t mind submitting to her.”

“You aren’t affected.”

“I’m not a single submissive,” he replied with a wink.

I managed a smile but my gaze still drifted to her.  “Tell me about her.”

“No.  I don’t want to see you get hurt.”

I held his gaze until he gave in.

“Her name is Melisande, but no one calls her anything other than Miss M,” he said with a heavy sigh.

“Victor…”I wasn’t sure which was irritating me more: Victor calling me “Babs” or telling me what to do.

He ignored the warning in my voice, intent on more important things.  “Look, I know what’s going through your mind right now.  You prefer men. You don’t even know her.  But if she gave you the faintest hint of interest you would beg to be in her collar.”

“I would not.”  I sighed and lowered my gaze to the smooth wooden bar top.  “I would.”  I looked up at him.  “How did you know?”

He shrugged.  “She has that effect on every single submissive that meets her.  Hell, there are even a few Doms that wouldn’t mind submitting to her.”

I didn’t intend to look for her when I left the coat room, but I couldn’t seem to help myself.

She sat alone at a corner table, and I studied her from the corner of my eye as I made my way to the bar, taking in details I had missed earlier: dark hair in a French braid, fair skin, understated make up. She was taller than I was, but the clothes she wore made her seem soft, somehow, but that softness was at odds with the air of command that radiated from her.

I sighed as I took a seat at the bar, and Victor raised an eyebrow.

“Who is she?”

He shook his head. “No, Babs. You don’t want to get mixed up with her.”

“Victor…”I wasn’t sure which was irritating me more: Victor calling me “Babs” or telling me what to do.

Picking up from last week:

Unbidden, my mind conjured up fantasies of her touch, and I shuddered.

I had never wanted anyone – man or woman – the way I wanted her.

For a moment I considered slipping a note into her coat pocket with my name and phone number, but that would be far too forward and presumptuous, not to mention that it sounded like something from a bad Doris Day movie. With a sigh I ran my hands along her coat, smoothing out imaginary wrinkles, wishing…

I didn’t intend to look for her when I left the coat room, but I couldn’t seem to help myself.

It was nothing but an acknowledgement, I told myself, but I could not slow the beating of my heart as she moved past me, and I slipped into to the coat room, grateful for the solitude to try to collect myself.

She probably prefers men, I thought as I selected a padded hanger and carefully arranged her long leather coat on it. For that matter, I thought as I hung it in an alcove where it would not be disturbed, I prefer men.

It was true. I had scened with women, but much preferred the touch of a man’s hand.

Unbidden, my mind conjured up fantasies of her touch, and I shuddered.

“What is your name?”

Her voice was surprisingly warm and gentle and I felt blessed to have had her speak to me.

“Barbara, Ma’am,” I replied, taking the coat that she handed to me.

“Barbara,” she repeated. “Thank you.”

I had never liked my name, but hearing it from her lips sent a surge of desire through me.
