Rainbow Snippet for 2-12-2022

rainbow logo 1

Rainbow Snippets is a group for LGBTQ+ authors, bloggers, and readers to gather once a week and share six sentences from a work of fiction–a WIP or a finished work or even a 6-sentence book recommendation (no spoilers please!).  Check out all the other awesome snippets by clicking on the picture above.

This snippet picks up from last week’s, from my still unnamed FF vampire novel. It’s also extremely raw (as in I’m pretty much writing this for Rainbow Snippet posts until I get the first draft of a different novel finished) so never mind any head-hopping you’ll see in any snippets.

It felt like an eternity, but the task was over all too soon, and she gathered up her tools and put the flat tire in the open trunk.

“That should do it,” she said. She turned to see Olivia pulling something from her purse. “Thank you, but we’re not allowed to accept gratuities.”

“It’s not a gratuity.” Olivia seemed amused. “It’s an invitation.”

Curious, Sam took the proffered business card. “Club Evernight?” She’s heard about the club, of course; everyone in the city had heard about it. Despite – or possibly because of – some whispered rumors, it was the hottest – and hardest to get into – nightclub in the city.  And like the woman who had handed her the card, it was way out of her league. “Thank you, but I don’t think…”

“Show that card to the doorman. You’ll be admitted.”

Sam forced herself to focus on the task at hand, deliberately schooling her thoughts away from the woman watching her. There was something compelling about her, something that made her want to…

She pushed the thoughts away and focused on lug nuts. Lug nuts weren’t nearly as interesting as Olivia Elder, but they were safer. Much safer. Somehow she was certain that Olivia Elder wasn’t safe at all.

Livi was mildly surprised to see that the driver of the roadside assistance truck was a woman, and more than a little amused when her heightened senses registered the rapid heartbeat and scent of arousal. The woman was shorter than she was, with curly sandy blonde hair and curves that the coveralls didn’t quite conceal; tonight just might be fun after all.

“Olivia Elder?”

“Livi,” she said, smiling. She held out her hand and when the driver took it she felt a flash of something she couldn’t quite identify.

“I’m Sam – Samuelle.” Taking a deep breath she wondered why she’d bothered giving her full name; she usually didn’t, especially not to a customer.

Turning to the car to steady herself she noticed that the spare tire was propped against the rear bumper, ready and waiting. Apparently the woman was more than a pretty face and gorgeous body.

A pair of impossibly long legs clad in high heeled thigh-high boots appeared, followed by a skirt that would have been indecent had it been an inch shorter. The rest of the body was just as luscious and Sam busied herself writing down the time of her stop and the mileage, just to try to regain control of her senses and not stare at the black bustier and red half-jacket. The outfit left just enough to the imagination to make it hard to think.

Finally unable to put it off any longer she took a deep breath, reminded herself that she was here to change a tire, and stepped out of the truck.

The mall had long since closed and the parking lot was nearly empty by the time Sam turned the truck down the row the car with the flat tire was in. Seeing it, she let out a low whistle and checked the work order again. Apparently someone at dispatch didn’t know cars, because a Bugatti was not a “Bug.” Blue eyes swept across the sleek lines and she sincerely hoped she wasn’t drooling as she parked next to it.

Then the car’s door opened, and all thoughts of the vehicle vanished as she saw the driver.

I’m posting excerpts from Doll, a little F/f BDSM story that I started back in January of 2014. It’s kind of a UFO (UnFinished Object) that is sort of turning back into a WiP. We’ll see.

Victor and I both watched as Ike greeted Miss M and the two of them disappeared into Ike’s office.

“I wonder what that’s all about?” Victor murmured.

“Maybe someone needs some additional training,” I retorted, but he shook his head.

“If he was going to send me to her for training he would have just done it.”

I raised my eyebrows and he shrugged. “He’s sent me to her before.”

My eyebrows went higher and he laughed. “Nothing bad. He just wanted me to learn some skills he wasn’t capable of teaching me.’

“Oh?”

“Yeah. Have you ever seen the way that man cleans? He has a lot of skills, but housework isn’t one of them.”

“He sent you to a Pro Domme to learn to clean house?”

Victor shrugged. “And to… develop a proper attitude toward it.”

“Trying to get what you want – it’s only going to get you hurt and disappointed.”

I frowned, but before Victor could say anything we were interrupted by the arrival of Ike, the club’s – and Victor’s – owner.

“What are you doing to Barbie?” Ike asked, giving Victor a quick kiss.

“Just trying to save her from herself.” Victor nodded toward Miss M.

“Ah, good, she’s here.”

“You were expecting her?”

“I invited her.” More or less hidden by the bar, Ike gave Victor’s ass a squeeze. “We’ll be in my office. Do not disturb unless it’s an emergency.”

Victor and I both watched as Ike greeted Miss M and the two of them disappeared into Ike’s office.

“…She doesn’t have a select clientele of men who come to be tied up or whatever. She’s a trainer.”

“A trainer?”

He nodded. “She trains submissives. Either ones that are hoping to find a permanent Dom or ones whose Doms want them to have additional training.”

“So she already has someone in her collar.”

“No,” he replied and my hopes rose again. “She doesn’t have anyone in her collar, nor does she ever plan to.”

“What do you mean?”

He shrugged. “She doesn’t want that kind of commitment. Trying to get what you want – it’s only going to get you hurt and disappointed.”

“She’s a Pro Domme.”

I shrugged. “That doesn’t make her a bad person. It just makes her a person who makes a lot of money doing something she enjoys.”

Victor laughed in spite of himself. “Not that kind of pro, though. She doesn’t have a select clientele of men who come to be tied up or whatever. She’s a trainer.”

Picking up from last week, and Doll’s memory/flashback to her meeting with the woman with the boots and bullwhip.

“She has that effect on every single submissive that meets her.  Hell, there are even a few Doms that wouldn’t mind submitting to her.”

“You aren’t affected.”

“I’m not a single submissive,” he replied with a wink.

I managed a smile but my gaze still drifted to her.  “Tell me about her.”

“No.  I don’t want to see you get hurt.”

I held his gaze until he gave in.

“Her name is Melisande, but no one calls her anything other than Miss M,” he said with a heavy sigh.
