Rainbow Snippet for 4-23-2022

Rainbow Snippets is a group for LGBTQ+ authors, bloggers, and readers to gather once a week and share six sentences from a work of fiction–a WIP or a finished work or even a 6-sentence book recommendation (no spoilers please!).  Check out all the other awesome snippets by clicking on the picture above.

This snippet picks up from last week’s, from my still unnamed FF vampire novel. It’s also extremely raw (as in I’m pretty much writing this for Rainbow Snippet posts until I get the first draft of a different novel finished) so never mind any head-hopping you’ll see in any snippets.

“One more thing,” Linda said. “Then I think you’ll be ready for hair and nails and make up.”

Before Sam could protest Linda left the dressing room area, leaving her alone with Celia.

“Hair and nails and make up? All I wanted was something to wear.”

“Seriously, Sam, you can’t go to a club without nails and make up. You’ll look naked. And your hair…” Celia shook her head.

“There’s nothing wrong with her hair,” Linda said, returning with a black “newsie” cap with silver studs. “And this is going to look perfect on it.” She perched the cap on Sam’s head and nodded. “Just the right finishing touch. Now, about the rest… She definitely has to have something done with those nails – they’re basically non-existent. But make up? Something light and natural. Or at least not too dark. Where are you planning to take her?”

  1. Putting all those pieces together, I can almost visualize it. Great snippet!
