Rainbow Snippets is a group for LGBTQ+ authors, bloggers, and readers to gather once a week and share six sentences from a work of fiction–a WIP or a finished work or even a 6-sentence book recommendation (no spoilers please!). Check out all the other awesome snippets by clicking on the picture above.
This snippet picks up from last week’s, from my still unnamed FF vampire novel. It’s also extremely raw (as in I’m pretty much writing this for Rainbow Snippet posts until I get the first draft of a different novel finished) so never mind any head-hopping you’ll see in any snippets.
“Linda, this is my sister, Sam,” she said, motioning for Sam to join them. “She got invited to Evernight and has nothing to wear.”
Linda eyed Sam up and down, her lips in a disapproving frown. “How?”
Sam started to bristle but Celia laughed. “That was what I wanted to know. Apparently, she changed a flat for Olivia Elder, and she took a liking to her and invited her.”
“Some people have all the luck,” Linda said, shaking her head. “What sort of clothes do you normally wear to clubs?” she asked, turning her attention to Sam.
“I don’t,” Sam admitted. “I’ve never gone clubbing before in my life. That’s Celia’s department.”
Linda’s pink curls shook. “I don’t know if Evernight it the right place to start for someone who’s never been to a club before. I’ve heard stories…”
Whoo hoo! I’m guessing Evernight’s stories are an entire anthology right there! :)=
Luckily, I never clubbed! :)
Sounds like she’s really going to be over her head. Been in clubs like that
