Rainbow Snippets is a group for LGBTQ+ authors, bloggers, and readers to gather once a week and share six sentences from a work of fiction–a WIP or a finished work or even a 6-sentence book recommendation (no spoilers please!). Check out all the other awesome snippets by clicking on the picture above.
This snippet picks up from last week’s, from my still unnamed FF vampire novel. It’s also extremely raw (as in I’m pretty much writing this for Rainbow Snippet posts until I get the first draft of a different novel finished) so never mind any head-hopping you’ll see in any snippets. Sam has called her sister for help.
“You got an invitation to Evernight?”
“Yes, now are you free to go shopping with me or not?”
“I wasn’t but I am now but only if you promise to tell me the whole story. Meet me at All Dolled Up on Bellevue in half an hour.”
Half an hour later Sam pulled into the parking lot of a small strip mall and parked next to her sister’s car.
“All right, Cilly, let’s get this over with.”
“It’s a shopping trip, not a root canal, and it was your idea. And don’t call me Cilly.”
“Celia.”
“Better. Now, how’d you wrangle an invitation to Evernight?”
“I changed a flat tire.”
“Who did the flat tire belong to?”
“The sexiest woman I’ve ever seen in my life. Olivia Elder.”
