“…I wasn’t sure I could afford to hire anyone. And now I’m pretty sure I can’t.”
“What do you mean?”
“Almost all of my money is in my bank on Pendelia Four. I’m afraid they’ll trace a transfer.”
“Good point.” He thought for a moment. “I’ll tell you what. Let’s set up an account for you here on Lansigan Prime…”
“With what? All my money…”
“Let me finish.” He held up a hand and she fell silent. “Let’s do this. Give me a voucher from your bank. I’ll use my own money to start an account for you here and then I’ll take a trip to Pendelia Four to visit some old friends – and get my money back. It’s not really a loan so much as a transfer without involving anything traceable.”
Taliya stared at him. “I’m not sure if you’re brilliant or devious.”
“Yes.”
