Taliya has bought a used space ship, had a few (mis)adventures with it, and has gone to look up an old friend from school for help. This picks up from last week’s snippet, in which Taliya filled Josul in on what’s been happening since she bought the ship.
“All this over a used ship?”
“It used to belong to a smuggler, Derring Hessen, who apparently was carrying something illegal – something that everyone apparently wants to get their hands on, but no one will tell me what it is. And here’s the thing – the ship has been searched by at least two, probably three, different law enforcement agencies and neither one found anything. Not to mention that it would have been checked out by Vastyne’s before it was sold.”
“And Hessen?”
“Cooling his heels somewhere very secure and very secret, accused of smuggling marjicia root. Trouble is, he was picked up several sectors away from Moraze in the Arescar Sector.”
