I’m posting from my current writing WiP, Song and Shadow, a prequel to Song and Sword. It’s a rough draft and I still don’t have an actual outline for it so it’s going to be a fun ride.
Picking up from last week’s snippet.
“I can help you, if you want me to.”
“How? And at what cost?”
“By teaching you to act the part until it becomes second nature to you. As for the cost…” He let his voice trail off for a moment, and shrugged. “You may find it too high, or perhaps not high enough.”
“What is it?”
“Friendship.”
“Friendship.” Hierik echoed the word as it echoed in his mind. He shook his head. “Princes don’t have friends.”
Princes lead lonely lives. That would make this an attractive and very scary offer. Fun snippet.
Love it. for the price of a friendship is priceless :-)
Friendship is a bit like the little girl with the little curl in the middle of her little forehead of nursery rhyme infamy. When it’s good, it’s very, very good. But when it’s bad, it’s horrid. Or, in the case of princes, potentially fatal.
