Okay, Goal Time!

Yes, I am finally getting around to listing some goals for 2021 and putting them out there for the world to see. I hope that the ones for 2022 are ready to go by the end of this year instead of a third of the way through January.

So here we go.

My main writing goals for 2021 are:

  1. Publish Onyx Sun.
  2. Finish the first draft of Song and Shadow (the prequel to Song and Sword) and make a concordance for the Elven Bard books.
  3. Get the Academy of the Accord series under control (make a list of what needs to be done on each book) and get the series concordance in order.
  4. Organize my Plot Bunnies and Works in Progress.
  5. And, of course, keep up with blog posts and my weekend snippet blog hops.

I know it doesn’t seem like a lot, but there are currently thirteen books (and a prequel) in the Academy of the Accord series and pretty much none of it is documented. (I did start a concordance once, years ago, and I’ve found it again (it was lost for a long time) but there’s not much in it.)

And the Elven Bard series currently has a total of four more books planned (counting Song and Shadow) and there’s no concordance of any kind set up for it and the world-building is starting to get a little messy. (Okay, a lot messy. Stupid Humans.)

And of course there will be NaNoWriMo in November, both Camp sessions (April and July), and NaPoWriMo (also in April) along the way. (Although three of them will help with my goals, so there is that.)

So, have I bitten off more writing goals than I can chew? Probably, but maybe not. Time will tell. (Time is lousy at keeping secrets.)

And then there is the Evil Day Job. It eats time, but fortunately my current assignments usually give me a fair amount of down time to work on side projects, such as writing, editing, crocheting, etc.

Which brings me to some of my non-writing goals for 2021.

Which brings me to some of my non-writing goals for 2021.

1. Get rid of at least one 90 quart tub of yarn by the end of the year. I plan to do this by:

A. making one crocheted scarf per week to donate to a drop in shelter for LGBTQIA+ youth who have been kicked out by their parents. If I get brave I’ll try hats and other warm things.)

B. making one crocheted prayer shawl a month for the Pagan Prayer Shawl Ministry I’m starting.

2. Make at least one homemade Yule gift for everyone on my list. (Looks at my yarn stash. People should probably be expecting afghans.)

3. Make some junk journals. (This involves organizing the mess in my craft area. Pray for me.)

But then, organizing the mess in my craft area is part of another goal for the year: conquering the clutter and getting the house to be “company ready” at all times.

I think that should be enough to keep me out of trouble for the year.

  1. Oh trust me, there’s still plenty of ways to get into trouble despite all that. LOL
