Still posting from that “Steampunk Thing.” The first draft isn’t done yet and I’m hoping that this will keep me motivated to keep at it.
(Apologies for any language usage that’s anachronistic. I’ll deal with that once the first draft is done.)
This picks up from last week.
“Very well.” She leaned back against the scaffolding she’d come down, idly laying the letter to one side. “So tell me right up front: are you going to have a problem working for a woman?”
“No ma’am.” I let my gaze travel up to the airship above us. “I wouldn’t have a clue how to even begin building something like this and I’m in awe of anyone who does.”
“We all have different strengths, Mr. McKelvy. Don’t discount yours.”
I couldn’t help but smile. I had the feeling that I could come to like this lady – like her as a person, just not as a lady. In fact, I already did.
“So, do you have any questions about the position?”
I hesitated for a moment, then shook my head. The only questions I had seemed a bit presumptuous, even to me.
