Sunday Snippet, November 3, 2019

This follows from last week’s post and is likely to be the last snippet from this story until I get more written, but since it’s not my NaNoWriMo project and has been on a back burner for over a year, that’s likely to be a while.

(A bit more background about this story. It was started to go along with a D20tabletop RPG that a friend was creating.  I have no idea where his project currently stands; I should probably ask him.)

“And don’t expect to get paid for today.”

“Well, at least he didn’t fire you,” Ozell said helpfully.

“I almost wish he had – then he could collect his own jellyfish tentacles.”

“You’ll find more than jellyfish tentacles tomorrow,” Ozell said cheerfully. “Oh, yes, you will. And maybe you’ll need that potion you didn’t make.”

“Pfft! You know I’m not interested in that.”

“Sez you!”

She ignored him and pondered what to do with the contents of the cauldron, finally deciding to just move it off of the fire to cool and let Tuiee deal with it. After all, if she wasn’t getting paid, she wasn’t going to do any extra work. Besides, he seemed interested in finding out what it did, and if she dumped it and it held any value he would not be happy, especially since they didn’t know how to recreate it.

With that accomplished she crossed the rest of the small lot behind Tuiee’s shop and vaulted over the low fence at the back.

“Hey! Where you going?” he shouted after her.

“If I’m not getting paid I’m going home,” she called back and people poked their noses out to see what was going on.

“You’re fired!” he shouted.

“Good! Go get your own tentacles!” she retorted as everyone returned to whatever they had been doing: the disturbance had been nothing more than Tuiee firing Chollee – again.

Hahaha, I wonder if she is going to be looking for another job or if she is going to go help with the tentacles.
Does he apologize or beg her to come back?

  4. I like her. Great attitude. Great snippet!
