My Camp NaNoWriMo project this month is yet another attempt to get a handle on Book Two of The Other Mages trilogy. (Yes, I know I’ve tried to finish this in other Camp sessions, but this time I’ve had an “ah-ha!” moment on how to fix a plot issue so I actually have hope…
Character introduction:
Trebor is an Empath. D’Laron is his best friend and a Healer. Luthen is… Well, an Elder in their tradition, and a mentor, especially to Trebor. Katheri is also an Empath, and Trebor and D’Laron are her Sajen – her trainers/mentors.
Sidden is a Healer and Empath, more experienced than Trebor or D’Laron.
This follows from last week:
“I’m glad you feel that way,” Sidden told him, his voice a warm murmur. ‘I’ve missed you too and I might be staying awhile if that’s all right.”
“If that’s…” Trebor pulled back and stared at him. “Of course that’s all right! You are always welcome here, Sid. Did you even need to ask?”
“Well, they say that asking is the polite thing to do.”
Trebor laughed and embraced him again. He stepped back and scanned his emotions. “Is something wrong?”
“Yes and no. But it’s nothing that we’re going to talk about tonight or tomorrow. This is a time for celebration. And maybe a time for going inside where it’s warmer?”
Trebor laughed. “Luthen hasn’t told me I can come in yet.”
“Fine. Stay out here and freeze and starve. I’m going in where there is warmth and food. And I hear that you and Del have taken on a Qestora*?”
“Katheri. She’s an Empath.”
*Qestora is a female apprentice.
And while I’m at it:
Qestoro is a male apprentice
Qestori is the plural and can refer to males, females, or both.
Mentors/trainers are:
Saj (singular, male or female)
Sajo (male)
Saja (female
Sajen (plural, male or female)
