Rainbow Snippets is a group for LGBTQ+ authors, bloggers, and readers to gather once a week and share six sentences from a work of fiction–a WIP or a finished work or even a 6-sentence book recommendation (no spoilers please!).   Check out all the other awesome snippets by clicking on the picture above.

Picking up from last week’ snippet of Onyx Sun.

Taliya looked down at the collar in her hand and abruptly turned away.  “In the morning I will take you to the planet of your choice, and I will give you money to make a fresh start on a new life.”

“No, wait.  Please.”  Luzita reached out and grabbed Taliya’s arm, turning her around to face her. “Please don’t turn me out.  I… I’m sorry, Taliya. Just, the things she said, she… She made it all sound so reasonable…”

“It’s not just that,” Taliya replied. “The things you said about Ayess…”

Luzita flushed.  “I – I’m sorry.  I… I know how you are, how you feel about other races and… And I was just trying to hurt you the way you hurt me.”

  1. Oh, Luzita. I wonder if she went too far?

  2. Ouch, poor Taliya! Luzita is trying to apologize, but it looks like she still blames Taliya or feels that she hurt her. Or maybe she’s jealous of Ayess?

This is definitely not going very well is it? Poor ladies

  4. There’s only so far you can go with excusing bad behavior. She may have had a reason, didn’t mean she had a cause

  5. When you wish you could take back the words you said….

So that makes it okay? Oh man, Luzita better learn how to walk the talk and take responsibility for her ugliness. Great snippet, P.T. :)

Oh, poor Taliya. That’s gotta be a rough spot to be in. I’m not sure how forgiving I’d be of someone who used my social justice views to find ways to hurt me.

Oh dear, I hope they can sort it out.
