Rainbow Snippets is a group for LGBTQ+ authors, bloggers, and readers to gather once a week and share six sentences from a work of fiction–a WIP or a finished work or even a 6-sentence book recommendation (no spoilers please!).   Check out all the other awesome snippets by clicking on the picture above.

I’m still posting from Onyx Sun, a science fiction novel that is currently in revision. The revisions are turning out to be more complex than originally expected so the release date is, um, to be determined. (I’ve given up trying to predict one, but I have at least one more round of revisions after the current one, and my goal for Camp NaNoWriMo this month is to finish this round.)

Skipping a couple paragraphs from last week.   Ayess has contacted Taliya to let her know that Luzita is on board.

(This part is still in revision so squint because I haven’t gotten to it yet.)

“She is here.”

Taliya frowned. “Ayess?”

He shook his head.  “She is… very different than you are. Maybe she is just scared and uncertain, but she is…”  He shook his head again and Taliya’s heart sank at what he wasn’t saying.

“I’m on my way back now, Ayess. I’ll sort it out.”  She smiled.  “Thank you, for at least trying to make her feel at home.”

“How do you know I did?”

“Because I know you,” she laughed.

  1. Aw, a sweet little scene in the middle of a larger more dramatic one! ♡

  2. Jana Denardo

I really like her trust in her companion’s decency.

  3. Can’t help feeling the reunion isn’t going to be plain sailing….
    Nice snippet! :)

  4. No need for squinting. Very nice snippet :-)

  5. I like the vibe in this scene. Like a warm blanket.

  6. Very sweet, though I worry the reunion won’t be so smooth.

  7. Can’t wait to see what happens next. I get the feeling it’s going to be fun.
