Rainbow Snippets is a group for LGBTQ+ authors, bloggers, and readers to gather once a week and share six sentences from a work of fiction–a WIP or a finished work or even a 6-sentence book recommendation (no spoilers please!). I’m still posting from Onyx Sun, a science fiction novel that is currently in revision. The revisions are turning out to be more complex than originally expected so the release date is, um, to be determined. (I’ve given up trying to predict one.)
Picking up from last week. Having been fired on by an unknown ship, Taliya had discovered some oddities about her own ship, and is doing some research into its past.
Skipping ahead a bit from last week. Taliya has been hailed by another ship.
I’ve edited this a lot (skipping parts) in order to make it more or less fit.

“Miss Swann, I would like to apologize for the actions taken against you yesterday. I do assure you that it was just a misunderstanding and that those who made the error in judgment will be dealt with. There are no hard feelings, I hope?”
“There was no damage done,” she replied, keeping her tone neutral. “But I hope that you will understand when I say that I don’t exactly have warm and fuzzy feelings toward you.”
