Rainbow Snippet for 9-10-2016

Rainbow Snippets is a group for LGBTQ+ authors, bloggers, and readers to gather once a week and share six sentences from a work of fiction–a WIP or a finished work or even a 6-sentence book recommendation (no spoilers please!).   Check out all the other awesome snippets by clicking on the picture above.

I’m still posting from Onyx Sun, a science fiction novel that is currently in revision. The revisions are turning out to be more complex than originally expected so the release date is, um, to be determined. (I’ve given up trying to predict one.)

Picking up from last week, Taliya was met by two men who asked her to accompany them, and she asked who they were and where they wanted her to go.

The younger one flushed in embarrassment but the older one reached into the pocket of his jacket and showed her a badge:  Pendelia Four Planetary Investigations. “I’m Agent Capize and this is Agent Ridi.  We need to talk to you.”

“About?”

“What do you know about Vastyne Byrd’s Ships?”

“Not much.  I purchased the Vain Glory from them, took possession last night.  Is something wrong?”

“Their business was destroyed last night – blown up.”

Oooo what a place to leave it! Intriguing.

  2. Love this. I could so run with that… in six different directions at once. It’d be interesting to see where Taliya takes this. She didn’t seem that intimidated by the interrogation.

Oh my goodness! I can’t imagine receiving that kind of news. I wonder how Taliya will react.

  4. Awesome title for the novel! Very intriguing settings, organisations, names!

  5. Wow, no wonder they want to talk with her. Looking forward to the next snip to see where it goes! 🙂

Gripping! I wonder what Taliya will do now.

  7. I love this bit. Great curveball and hook.

  8. Oh, looking forward to finding out more!
