Rainbow Snippets is a group for LGBTQ+ authors, bloggers, and readers to gather once a week and share six sentences from a work of fiction–a WIP or a finished work or even a 6-sentence book recommendation (no spoilers please!). Check out all the other awesome snippets by clicking on the picture above.
Posting from Onyx Sun, a science fiction novel that is currently in revision and which I’m hoping to publish next month. (Those of you who participate in Sunday Snippets may remember parts of this.)
I love how much you all are hating on Maureena. It makes my little authorly heart happy.
“And Luzita?” she asked. Ordinarily she would have been waiting to greet her, to welcome her home.
“Gone.”
“Gone? Gone where?”
Taliya was gripped not by grief now, but by fear. Had Maureena run her off? Turned her against her?
“I don’t know. I sold her.”
“You sold her?” Taliya was certain that she was hearing things.
“She could not pay for her back room and board or even for her current upkeep. I sold her to a slaver to recoup my losses.”
Damn, Maureena just gets worse and worse!
What an absolutely awful person! She’s shaping up to be a wicked cool villainess
Maureena gets more diabolical with every snippet
Heartbreaking. I don’t know the characters and yet, I feel bad for Taliya.
Yikes! “Can’t pay, we’ll take you away…”
She really is horrible.
Ooh, what a bitch she is!
I certainly hope Maureena gets what she has coming to her for being so cruel.
Ooh. She’s not nice at all! :o
Damn!
I haven’t any other snippets from this but I hate Maureena already!
She is really awful.
Wait until you see this week’s snippet…
