Rainbow Snippets is a group for LGBTQ+ authors, bloggers, and readers to gather once a week and share six sentences from a work of fiction–a WIP or a finished work or even a 6-sentence book recommendation (no spoilers please!). Check out all the other awesome snippets by clicking on the picture above.
Skipping ahead a bit from last week.
Kel was gone before breakfast. Maresh used magic to locate her and told Tirza that Kel had returned to Antion, the city where they met. Tirza went after her, and fouond her in a cage in the city square, on public display until being executed as a confessed Sword Dancer in the morning.
It’s late, and the square is deserted.
“That – that’s why I followed you. To – to find you and… and tell you… Kel… I love you. It doesn’t matter – nothing else matters.”
“Oh, Tirza.” Kel felt her heart breaking. Long slender fingers curled behind Tirza’s neck, holding her as she bent to kiss her.
Tirza permitted the kiss, but Kel could feel the tension in her muscles, feel her forcing herself to accept it, and she slowly withdrew her hands.
“Thank you for trying, my lady,” she said softly, stroking her cheek again. “But it’s all right. I understand.”
I think this might be the last excerpt from this — at least for a while. I think I might switch gears to a science fiction novel that I’m hoping to release next month.
