Rainbow Snippets is a group for LGBTQ+ authors, bloggers, and readers to gather once a week and share six sentences from a work of fiction–a WIP or a finished work or even a 6-sentence book recommendation (no spoilers please!). Check out all the other awesome snippets by clicking on the picture above.
Picking up from last week:
“Why? Why did you hide being a woman?
Kel shrugged. “Because women can’t be warriors.” She sighed. “When I was a child, I was never interested in the things I was supposed to be interested in, in the things little girls were supposed to be interested in.”
Tirza nodded. She could understand that — she had been much the same as a child.
“Why… why didn’t you tell me that you were a woman? Why did you let me go on thinking that you were male?”
I’m anxious to get Kel’s answer to that last question. :-)
Kel’s answer to that will be interesting.
I could make some guesses about why Kel didn’t tell Tirza the truth sooner, but I’ll wait to see what her actual answers are. I like that Tirza wants to hear her out rather than avoiding the conversation.
The ultimate question! Poor Kel…this sounds like another world where it’s hard to be female.
Love Tirza’s attitude & i can’t wait to get the rest of this convo! <3
I wonder what Kel’s answer will be. Maybe she thought Tirza wouldn’t look at her if she knew?
Now there’s the 64,000 dollar question but I understand he view.
I wouldn’t envy anyone in that situation, having to judge the right time to make the confession…
