Happy New Year!

This is the year of revising the Academy of the Accord series.  I have someone who wants to read it (and who has agreed to beta read for me) so that means I have an added incentive to work on it.

So, my goal for this time next week is to finish the paper edits of the first book (almost done!) and get the changes made to the Word doc, and get it sent to my beta reader – with the caveat that things could change as I work through the rest of the series.

My other writing goals are to finish the revisions on Onyx Sun and release it, and finish Hedge House and maybe get it edited and released too, although working on edits on that many different things may be more than I can handle at once.

And, of course, there’s the old stand-by of finishing Book Two of The Other Mages, a goal which is seriously starting to sound like a running joke.  Maybe this will be the year that I finally wrap it up.

As for the 1K-a-Day Challenge, I’m not doing it this year, but I will complete the months that I didn’t meet the challenge, because I hate that I didn’t make the goals.

And I simply can’t go a year and not write, so even outside of NaNo months I’ll be plugging away at the keyboard. (I plan to write something every day – something novel related, that is – but I’m not going to try to put a word count quota on it.  A couple hundred words, a hundred words, even fifty words – it’s all good at this point.)

I’m also going to organize all of my WiPs and Plot Bunnies.  I’m working on getting them written onto 3×5 index cards and put into a photo album I got at a second hand store. It holds 200 photos in sleeves that are just the right size for the index cards.  Hopefully this way none of the bunnies will get loose and wreak havoc with my plans. I’ll try to get a picture of it once it has more cards in it. I need to find a way to color code the cards – I love color coding.

So, there you have it – my writing-related goals for 2016.  What are your goals, writing and/or other?

  1. I have three editing projects to finish, but they don’t have actual timelines as they’re all coming from various publishers; two novels I’ll be writing from scratch with complete outlines; one re-write where I’m taking a short novella and extending it into a novel; and a novel idea I have no outline for and am just writing as I think about it. Busy writing year. 🙂 I wouldn’t have it any other way.

  2. You wouldn’t have it any other way? Would any of us?
