Sunday Excerpt — September 28, 2014

More from Sanguine, a science fiction novel with elements of semi-paranormal M/M romance.

Picking from last week.   (There may or may not be some creative punctuation involved.)

Mirela stared Gavril down for a moment then turned to Kaen and her breath caught in her throat.  “Master…”  She faltered briefly, overwhelmed by his presence.

“Mira, I told you…”

She ignored Gavril, never taking her gaze from Kaen.  “Please, Master,” she whispered.

Kaen reached out and gently cupped her cheek with one hand, looking into her eyes.   He had no idea why Gavril was trying to prevent her offering, but he did know that she was one of his people and she had turned to him, seeking his protection, and he could not refuse her silent plea.

  1. I love the offering—it’s so very intimate, without being sexual (except, of course, in one very special case 🙂 ).

What’s the ETA on this, Paula? Christmas is coming up and I have readers to buy for!

Nicely done, PT. I love her strength and Kaen’s acceptance. 🙂

  3. The eyes have it all, Paula.
Your snippet reminds me of one of my favorite songs by Santana. I hope you don’t mind me adding the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oCSK_gbCPoA

  4. Great and strong snippet this week!

  5. Kaen is so good! But there might be retaliation from others, I wonder what he is protecting her from and if that’s Gavril only.

  6. I have so many questions about the characters I love so much. Big question–when is the book coming out? I really need it now.

So, something’s going on but what? This excerpt raises lots of questions which of course is very good.

  8. The question has already been asked… but I want this book!

As always, your snippet just isn’t long enough. I need at least a hundred more pages. 😉

  9. Nice snippet–like the tenderness of Gaen.

  10. Great snippet! I’m really liking Mirela, she so vulnerable and spunky at the same time… hope she gets a love story too!

  11. More on the question of just who the real leader is in this matchup.

  12. Very good… there’s an interesting power struggle at work here.
