More from Sanguine, a science fiction novel with elements of semi-paranormal M/M romance.
With any luck, I will have conquered the scene in chapter 14 that is giving me fits and will have this ready to go to some volunteer pre-readers by the middle of the week, which means it could be unleashed on the world next month sometime.
Anyhow, I’m skipping ahead a bit from last week: Kaen has fed from Constin and he and Gregor have left him to get settled.
(Pay no attention to random punctuation and run on sentences – they don’t exist in the big version.)
“Are you all right?” Kaen asked as the ready room door closed behind them.
Gregor nodded. “It… watching the two of you… it was as if I could feel the bonding happening, and I was part of it, not outside of it.” He paused, thinking. “Our family is close, Master: yes, we are scattered and often don’t see each other for years at a time, but there is still a closeness. – somehow now it feels… more intense – I feel… closer… to Constin than I did before.”
Kaen smiled and pulled Gregor to him, holding him. “No jealousy?”
“I know my place, Master,” Gregor said, his tone dejected: he lowered his eyes, not meeting Kaen’s gaze.
“Gregor.” Kaen stepped back, preparing to lecture him, but saw the grin hiding in Gregor’s eyes and laughed. “Constin is right, you are a brat.” Gregor’s grin spread to his lips and suddenly Kaen was kissing him, hungry for more than blood. “Gregor,” he murmured, “I cannot wait until everyone is settled for the night.”

My other novel, Song and Sword is currently available for Kindle and all other e-readers.
Available for Kindle at Amazon
and at Smashwords for all other e-readers.
So cute! Good that there is no jealousy though. I wouldn’t like to see these two in love trouble.
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it.
Each scene I read brings me deeper into this world. I’m glad it will be out soon so I can read the full book. Love it!
I’m glad you’re enjoying it and looking forward to reading the whole thing.
(I’m glad it will be out soon, too! LOL)
Oooh, HOT!
Thanks!
*thinks about some scenes that I posted earlier and some scenes that I haven’t posted…*
I love that grin that suddenly surfaces in Gregor’s eyes!
Thanks. Gregor can be quite the tease…
I got a kick out of this scene. Loved the teasing.
Thanks. They tease each other quite a bit — Gregor is usually the instigator.
A month? i have to wait a month? Dang it, Paula. :)
You might not have to…
Heh, good one, Gregor. Nicely done, PT. :)
Thanks, Siobhan!
I thought maybe Gregor would be jealous, but he isn’t. That’s good for them all. I like that Gregor has a little humor to him.
Hmm.. I must not have posted other snippets of Gregor’s sense of humor. Ah, well, they’ll be a surprise when the book comes out. Glad you enjoyed it!
Gregor knows he’s irresistible — why be jealous? *g*
Another nice one! I’m looking forward to this release!
Thanks, Charley! And soon….
Definitely steamy!
Thanks! (There are a lot hotter scenes in there.)
I really liked the first part, feeling like being part of the bonding while actually looking at it from the outside. Good job. :)
Thanks. I’m glad it works, bad punctuation and all.
Sounds like the problem of Gregor not having enough blood is solved.
Ha! Just wait until they get to Earth — and then leave again..
Terrific dialogue here. It’s always a neat trick when you can both reveal character and move plot through dialouge.
