Plans

How do you make the gods laugh?  Make plans…

Just before leaving for work on Sunday I reached the end of the current edit on Sanguine.

Maybe.

I rewrote one scene to better show a character’s… character.  And I discovered that I don’t like to rewrite scenes in the middle of the book.  It was necessary, though.  Mirela had been coming across as weak-willed and pliant, and she is anything but, and there was just no way to fix it without changing the scene.  I still think that the scene is messy and needs work, but that will happen in the next paper edit.

There may be another scene getting a do-over, but it’s at the end so won’t be as difficult.  I haven’t quite decided if I’m changing it or not yet.  I’ll need to decide by Wednesday, because that’s the day I’ll be going to Office Max to get it printed to be gone over on paper again, hopefully for the final time.

Meanwhile, I have other projects to work on.

Like The Other Mages trilogy.

I’ve been very neglectful of it.  If I don’t finish Book One this month, finishing it and Book Two (which is about half done) will most likely be my project for April’s Camp NaNoWriMo.

(April?  Camp?  *stares at the calendar* How did April get to be next month already?! *looks out the window* It sure doesn’t look like April is only a month away…*)

So, anyhow… Before April rolls around I would like to have Sanguine turned loose on the world.

And I (well, my alter ego, Desiree D’Muir) will need to get enough written on Doll to fill the month with excerpts for Sunday Snippets.

Especially since April is also NaPoWriMo (National Poetry Writing Month – an event based on (but not affiliated with) NaNoWriMo, in which participants are challenged to write a poem a day for 30 days.  I’ve done both NaNoWriMo and NaPoWriMo (yes, in the same month) and I find that writing 50,000 words in 30 days is easier than writing a poem a day for 30 days.

And I’m hoping to organize a SF/F blog hop in May.

And May and June and probably July are going to be dedicated to The Other Mages trilogy: finishing the books, editing them, and maybe even getting them out before August’s Camp NaNoWriMo.

Anyhow, those are the current upcoming plans.

I’m sure the gods of writing are laughing hysterically.
